young mothers education and support
OAYouth realises that young women are more marginalised when they become single mothers. In some African communities they bbecome moral exiles due to custom stigma. They become gripped by a whole new world where responsibility for a child is suddenly on their laps, without means of support. In most cases young women drop out of school after accidental pregnancies.
OAYouth identifies and encourages or give guidance, pre and postnatal councelling for these young mothers as a matter of necessity or refer them to identified institutions and NGOs.
As a programme, OAYouth ensures that these young mothers can still continue with their education. This is in the hope that it will reduce the incidence of abandoned babies, abortions or suicide.
