Correctional Rehabilitation
Prisons are full of young people most of whom upon release are shunned by society. These young people are not employable because they “have a criminal record”.
OAYouth has a project enabling the organisation to act as the first point of call for all young people coming out of prison. It engages with Parole Boards and departments of Correctional services to ensure that it is informed in advance of any persons being released from prison. Personalised programmes are then made to suit individual situations. OAYouth works with the individuals until they are acclimatised to their new environment. The former convicts are given entrepreneurship training, agricultural skills and support for them to start self-sustaining programmes
OAYouth also assists the individual to apply for jobs and so that they do not revert to crime.
